Brooks Mathis is the Executive Vice President & Executive Director of Economic Development and Select Cobb. The core focus of the Cobb economic development team is to promote existing business growth, provide strategic workforce development solutions, recruit new, fresh and targeted industries to Cobb and market the assets of Cobb County and its six cities to the world. Prior to joining the Chamber, Brooks served as the regional project manager with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, recruiting companies to the state of Georgia. He also worked economic development projects with Electric Cities of Georgia & MEAG Power and the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce. Brooks was selected to participate in LEAD Atlanta and was chosen as one of Georgia Trend’s Top 40 Under 40. He also serves as the Chairman of the Cobb Travel & Tourism Board of Directors and the Georgia Economic Developers Association.

J Nelson Geter serves as the Executive Director of the Development Authority of Cobb County. The DACC is noted as one of the most well-run and highest return on investment authority for taxpayers in Georgia. The Authority provides competitive tax incentives and bond financing for competitive projects creating jobs and high investment. Nelson retired from Georgia Power as its Metro East Region Manager after thirty-five years of service. Nelson graduated from Savannah State University in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

Amanda Blanton is the Economic Development Manager for the Cobb Chamber Economic Development team and Select Cobb. Amanda supports the organization by providing essential research and demographic information to the Chamber membership as well as prospective companies and existing industries within Cobb County. Additionally, Amanda is working to promote international commerce connectivity to the Cobb business community. Amanda also serves as administrative support for the Development Authority of Cobb County and Cobb’s Redevelopment Efforts. Prior to her role at the Chamber, Amanda was the Membership Manager for a premier golf community in Cashiers, North Carolina.

Rob Garcia provides essential support to our existing and prospective companies in his role as Talent Development Manager. In this capacity, Rob will work closely with Cobb businesses and its educational institutions to create workforce development programs to ensure a continued pipeline for growth and success. In addition, Rob will manage the Cobb Workforce Connections Program, coordinate marketing efforts to expand Cobb’s young professional workforce as well as focus on recruitment and retention strategies for both business and universities. He will also partner on existing industry calls to ensure workforce needs are being met. To provide the business community a strong voice, Rob serves on the Board of Directors for CobbWorks and the Innovation Crescent. Rob graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Finance and is a native of Cobb County.

Austin is a graduate from Auburn University with a degree in Political Science. He will focus his responsibilities on our Cobb Workforce Partnership, an effort to strengthen Cobb’s pipeline of top talent to our businesses for the next generation. The CWP engages local, state and regional leaders in business, education and government to form strategic and innovative industry pipelines for the future. Additionally, Austin will be engaging with existing businesses and industry throughout the county, ensuring our companies are heard, not just in issues of workforce development, but in all items necessary for their continued success in the community.

As a self-described magazine junkie, Amy Selby spent the first part of her career in Atlanta’s publishing industry. In her 10-plus years as an editor and writer she has covered parenting, health care, business, chiropractic care, real estate, education and women’s interests. She has launched and redesigned publications, and picked up a few awards along the way. In March 2011, she joined the Cobb Chamber of Commerce as their marketing manager.
As Vice President of Marketing and Communications, she manages the chamber’s branding, marketing, and communication strategies, the chamber’s membership and economic development ad campaigns, and is a member of the chamber’s senior leadership team.
She currently serves as co-chair of the Cobb County Public Safety Appreciation Breakfast committee, she’s a member of the Smith-Gilbert Gardens Foundation Board, and a member of the Give Our Schools a Hand committee. She is a graduate of the 2014-2015 Leadership Cobb class.
