Fabric.com Relocates to Kennesaw

Kennesaw, Ga. (June 4, 2012) – Fabric.com, the world’s leading online fabric store specializing in cut-yardage fabric sold directly to consumers, announced it will be relocating and expanding into a new facility in Kennesaw.  The company, currently located in Cobb County, plans to occupy a 200,000 square foot building in Jiles Commerce Center located at Jiles Road and Royal Drive.  The move is expected to be completed by this August.

The building will require re-design and build-out by site owner Republic Property Company over the next six months.  Total investment into the facility is expected to exceed $4 million.  Fabric.com is anticipated to initially employ 200 people but expects to grow to 250 in the first year of operation.

Strong support from officials with the city, county, and state, combined with support from the Cobb and Kennesaw Development Authorities, were instrumental in assisting Fabric.com’s expansion in Kennesaw and retaining the business in Cobb County.

“Having Fabric.com relocate to our community demonstrates our commitment to supporting the growth of business and jobs,” said Kennesaw Mayor Mark Mathews.  “We’re very excited to see vacant industrial space becoming attractive to expanding businesses.  The skilled labor pool, exceptional educational options and superior quality of life offered by Kennesaw and Cobb County make it an obvious choice for developing companies.”

“In today’s competitive environment it is crucial that leadership come together to help retain existing jobs and also create new opportunities for the future.  That leadership was certainly illustrated in this project with the teamwork of the City of Kennesaw, the Kennesaw & Cobb County Development Authorities, the Cobb Chamber & Cobb County Government.  Outcomes such as this are only possible through a team approach,” said Brooks Mathis, Vice President of Economic Development at the Cobb Chamber of Commerce.

Fabric.com started in 1993 as a wholesale distributor of apparel fabrics.  In 1999, they expanded to online retail, selling cut-yardage fabrics directly to consumers.
