Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $31.4 million Air Force contract that will be fulfilled by crews at the company’s Marietta Plant.

The contract, awarded Monday, is an extension to an already existing contract, according to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics spokesperson Rob Fuller.

“This is a follow-on contract to one we’ve had for several years with the U.S. Air Force for software maintenance and upgrade for C-5M aircraft and for the engineering systems integration lab,” Fuller said.

Employees at the Marietta plant already support the programs, Fuller said, with the contract extension having no impact on the plant’s staffing numbers, which sit at just under 5,000.

Work will be performed at the Marietta plant, and is expected to be complete by May 13, 2024, according to the Department of Defense, which announced the contract. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia, is the contracting activity.
